Other fish in the steelhead rivers of BC.....
| In the Kispiox, Morice, Bulkley and other rivers are also some other fish of course. Those are however not the main target of a steelhead trip. The dolly varden is a very beautiful char, especially the male in spawning dress. Then there are cutthroat and bulltrout and Rocky Mountain whitefish. The cutthroat looks like a rainbow trout. Those local, non-migrating fish are sometimes caught when fly fishing for steelhead with egg patterns, but other small flies are also taken as well. An 8-feet #4/5 fly rod is sufficient for those fish, but there is always a chance that a steelhead or salmon will take the fly so I always advise to use a stronger and heavier fly rod in case when you insists to go after them. |
